What is a REALTOR®?

The REALTOR® Association is a professional association of real estate agents.  When you sign up as a REALTOR®, you are joining a private membership organization of real estate agents.  The REALTOR® Association includes services and benefits on 3 levels of government -- local, state and national.  Agents who sign up as a REALTOR® must sign up through a local association.  There is no a-la-cart option to join one or two-levels only.  Through the local association, the state and national membership services are maintained.  By joining SFAR, your San Francisco Association of Realtors (SFAR), your California Association of Realtors (CAR), and your National Association of Realtors (NAR) membership services are accessible.

No, Agent Assistants and Clerical Users CANNOT simply share a login with an Agent they are helping. This is a clear violation of the MLS Rules & Regulations and is Fine Level D ($1000). Assistants and Clerical Users have a special less expensive membership type, and should absolutely join the San Francisco Association of REALTORS® as the proper member type so that they are eligible for phone support, email support, can attend classes and seminars and most importantly, so that Agents are not fined for sharing MLS Access.
