Nomination of Board of Directors Candidates Now Closed

In accordance with the provisions of the Bylaws, the Nomination of candidates for Board of Directors is now closed. The names of candidates for directorship positions which will become vacant at year end are set forth below:

REALTOR® or Designated REALTOR® elected from a brokerage with between one and 75 REALTOR® members (One Vacancy):

J. Jay Lampus, Brown & Co. Real Estate

As an active SFAR member for many years, I've served as a Governmental Affairs Co-Chair, Board of Directors Appointee and participated on the MLS Technology and Standard Forms Committees. I am past SFAR liaison to the S.F. Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Group and currently represent the Association as an officer on the S.F. Small Business Network Board of Directors. My inquisitive nature loves to understand how things work and to generate positive change. I bring an eclectic background ranging from the arts to business to communication theory and persuasion – my academic specialty – and 14 years as a REALTOR®. My peers at the Association have always been top-notch. I love working with them and advancing SFAR goals for both member and community betterment.

Gabriel L. Rojas, Climb Real Estate

As your Chair of the Education and Member Services Committee at SFAR, I strive to bring the same passion and dedication to you serving on our Board of Directors. My mission is, and will continue to be, to provide our members with the tools, education, and methods necessary for you to be the most highly qualified agents in the Bay Area and beyond.  In addition, I want to be the ear that listens to what matters most to you, my fellow members.

I humbly accept this nomination and hope that I can continue my dedicated service to you, and by doing so, continue to evolve as a REALTOR® alongside each and every one of you.

REALTOR® or Designated REALTOR® elected from a brokerage in Daly City
(One Vacancy):

Fanny Y. Chu, BHG J. F. Finnegan REALTORS®

I have been an active SFAR member for close to 30 years.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, I’m a Chinese/English bilingual, serving the community and real estate industry with Cantonese/Mandarin/Shanghainese and English.

For many years, I’ve been an instructor for ICREA and for NAR in CIPS, SRES and At Home with Diversity, including EAH this year.  Serving as a founding AREAA board member, past president of CREAA and in the SFCLionsClub have given me ample leadership skills and team working experience.

With my unique background, experience and networking, I have advocated empowering REALTORS® to be global REALTORS®.  With your vote, I’m committed to sharing my knowledge, experience and networking capabilities with you and to bring our business and personal development to the next level!

REALTORS® or Designated REALTORS® elected at-Large (Three Vacancies):

Don Diltz, Coldwell Banker Res. R.E. Svcs.

REALTORS® are under attack here in S.F. and in the Bay Area as non-traditional businesses compete directly with us. SFAR continues to need leadership at the Board to guide us through these challenges, without ostracizing our partners, and to facilitate the growth of our businesses and interests.

I volunteer for your leadership team as a Director of SFAR - I come from a real estate family, have a top-tier education (Cal and Stanford), I’ve worked with challenging political interests, built successful small- and large-scale businesses and have a proven track record of success as a REALTOR® and managing broker (19 years in S.F. and in the Peninsula) and have experience as a SFAR and C.A.R. Director, MLS and Standard Forms Committees.

Please vote for me.

Tara C. Donohue, Zephyr Real Estate

I have enjoyed my past year as a member of the Board of Directors and I am ready, willing and able to serve another term.  I look forward to digging into hot issues like Off- MLS sales, ease of information sharing between MLSs and making our Association and members irreplaceable to consumers in these "zulia" times.  Thank you for your consideration.

Paula R. Gold-Nocella, Vanguard Properties

My contribution to the Association and its members is my history as a Top Producing REALTOR® in San Francisco and Sonoma Counties for approximately 24 years. As a Managing Broker of a mid- to large-size brokerage in the City, I have vast experience in a variety of REALTOR® requests, needs, and issues. This will benefit the membership at large when contemplating minor and major decisions that the Directors are entrusted to make.

In 1996, I served as the San Francisco Woman’s Council of REALTORS®’ Chapter President and in 2007, I was the North Bay Association of REALTORS®’ President, with approximately 3,800 members. It has always been my pleasure to serve and aid in the professionalism of our REALTOR® community.

Kevin K. Ho, Vanguard Properties

I’m Kevin Ho of Vanguard Properties. I’m running for SFAR Director because I love what I do and want to contribute. Us REALTORS® should strive to be more streamlined, competitive and relevant. We're facing some big decisions and it’ll be important to have a director representing you who is enthusiastic, smart and engaging. Because we like bullet points in our industry, here's why you should vote for Kevin Ho:

  • MLS and Technology Committee Member;
  • Bridges the gap between tech-oriented and paper-based agents;
  • Loves the profession here and its practitioners;
  • Brings perspective, humor and levity;

  • Puts his attorney experience to practical use as a REALTOR®; and
  • Has a big black Labrador Retriever who loves real estate, too.

Valerie Ho, Coldwell Banker Res. R.E. Svcs.

Being a native San Franciscan, I love my hometown and want the best for it.  I joined SFAR 32 years ago when I began my Real Estate career. I appreciate the benefits and ongoing support that this Association offers.  My energy and direct approach was welcomed when I was a past director (2005-2007).  I enjoyed collaborating with fellow board members in making our Association progressive and well managed.  It is also rewarding serving as chairperson of the professional standards panel (for 8 years including 2014) resolving arbitrations.  If you have Association concerns or ideas, I welcome your input and will forward it on to the appropriate level.

"Be the change you want to see in the world" - Gandhi

Kelly Kang, Paragon Real Estate Group

I would love the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for another term. As a newer agent, I find that I face different challenges than more established agents. I am also better able and eager to explore new tools that become available to us. Having grown up in the Silicon Valley and working with many clients from the startup world, my hope is to bring a fresh perspective regarding technology tools. I also bring a background in real estate development and construction law to the group. I’d be honored to serve the REALTOR® community and represent your interests at the Board.

Cathlyne Scharetg, Coldwell Banker Res. R.E. Svcs.

I ask for your support in my candidacy as returning board member to the San Francisco Association of REALTORS®. SFAR has always been a driving force for positive change and growth for our clients, our city, our profession.  It has been an honor to be a part of this forward progression as both a SFAR Director (3 years) and CAR director (12 years). Please allow me the honor to continue to serve as a SFAR Director by casting your vote for me this month.  Our profession is being influenced by technology, politics, and economic factors outside our industry; so it is more important than ever that we are wholeheartedly engaged and optimistically involved in the process.  I ask for your vote to do just that.

Affiliate member elected at-large
(One Vacancy):

Lisa Cantello, Stewart Title

I am honored to be an Affiliate member of the San Francisco Association of REALTORS® and am excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Board of Directors in 2015.  I am passionate about the San Francisco real estate community and look forward to showing you my continued support.

Each nominee has been allowed to submit a personal statement describing his/her background, experience and service activities in support of his/her candidacy. The statements, as prepared by the candidates, are set forth above with the names of the candidates arranged alphabetically.
