Planning and Preparing for Coronavirus (COVID-19)

March 5, 2020

Dear San Francisco Association of REALTORS® Members,

As the situation regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, we recommend that all of our members, brokers, and offices be as prepared and educated about COVID-19 as possible.

First, we encourage all offices to review Interim Guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to protect your employees and clients.

Please focus on the most important points in this interim guidance, including:
- Actively encourage sick employees to stay home;
- Emphasize respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene by all employees; and
- Perform routine environmental cleaning.

If your office is planning a mass gathering or large community event, please follow the CDC's Interim Guidance regarding these activities.

If you are hosting or managing an open house, consider regular environmental cleaning and providing prevention supplies for visitors, including hand sanitizers and tissues.

The Department of Public Health has prepared a COVID-19 factsheet for businesses to post at their place of work to help educate the public. Please download the document here.

The Department of Public Health is also encouraging individuals to prepare for a possible disruption by doing the following:
- Make sure you have a supply of all essential medications for your family;
- Make a child care plan if you or a caregiver are sick;
- Make arrangements about how your family will manage a school closure; and
- Make a plan for how you can care for a sick family member without getting sick yourself.

The Mayor's Office released a press statement this morning on the latest developments of COVID-19 in San Francisco and you can review it here.
