Please Contribute to the Welcome Home Project's Fundraiser for Those Displaced by the Supportive Housing Fire on June 20th

Tenderloin Drive email header 4

Not all fires start in the wilderness. Many start in our own neighborhoods...

On Sunday, June 20, 2021, a devastating fire destroyed the Sierra Madre apartments in the Tenderloin which were supportive housing for more than 60 individuals--mostly seniors--and run by one of the Welcome Home Project's key partners: the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC).

Residents were awoken from their sleep in the early morning and had to flee the building immediately – so most left without any of their belongings, even their essentials. Of those displaced, 34 households are temporarily living in vacant units within TNDC’s portfolio and 4 households have moved in with family or friends. TNDC is working towards moving everyone to new permanent housing.

Our Opportunity to Help
Displaced tenants are in need of basic necessities as they resettle. Please consider donating any of the items below to the Welcome Home Project and we will ensure they are received by the tenants or fulfill other emergency requests. Note: All items should be new.

- Adult men's and women's clothing (with tags)
- Cleaning supplies (laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaning spray, and dish soap, etc.)
