The San Francisco Association of REALTORS® (SFAR) is delighted to announce that it has been honored with the prestigious title of Local Association Diversity Champion by the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) during its 2023 Diversity and Fair Housing Awards. This recognition highlights SFAR’s exceptional commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the real estate industry and the broader San Francisco community.
SFAR has consistently demonstrated its dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, as evidenced by the implementation of various groundbreaking DEI programs and initiatives:
Demographic Survey: SFAR took proactive measures by developing an extensive survey to comprehensively assess the demographics of its membership. By gathering valuable insights and perspectives on DEI matters from its members, the Association can better understand their needs and create more inclusive programs.
RISE Mentorship Program: The creation of the RISE mentorship program has been instrumental in providing support to BIPOC real estate professionals starting their careers in San Francisco. Through grants that cover business start-up costs and group mentoring sessions, RISE empowers aspiring professionals to overcome barriers and thrive in the real estate industry.
DEI Symposium: SFAR is actively planning a DEI Symposium, serving as a platform for industry experts, community leaders, and members to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange ideas, and collaborate on furthering diversity and fair housing in the region.
DEI Media Library: The establishment of a physical and virtual DEI media library underscores SFAR’s commitment to knowledge-sharing and resource accessibility for its members. This library will facilitate access to a wealth of educational materials, resources, and research focused on DEI matters.
Participation in SF Pride Parade and Celebration: SFAR proudly joins the SF Pride Parade, each year, reaffirming its support for LGBTQ+ rights and equality. Additionally, the Association hosts an annual Pride celebration, promoting an inclusive and supportive community for all.
Diversity Film Screenings and Discussions: By organizing diversity film screenings and discussions, SFAR encourages open dialogue and raises awareness about diverse perspectives, fostering a more understanding and compassionate community.
“It is with great honor and gratitude that we accept the title of Local Association Diversity Champion from C.A.R.,” said Damon Knox, SFAR President. “At SFAR, we firmly believe that a diverse and inclusive real estate industry is not only essential for our members’ success but also for the well-being and vibrancy of the communities we serve. This recognition reflects the unwavering dedication of our Association, and we will continue to strive for progress and make a positive impact on the future of San Francisco’s real estate landscape.”
